SeaTac -> China -> Bangkok

We made it to Thailand! Only two (or three) days and we are settled in Bangkok.

I know that no one wants to read a blog post basically describing our airplane ride, so I will keep this one short, and just about the highlights.

We left Monday morning and checked into our flight at SeaTac. We received a piece of paper to fill out that allowed us to stay in China for a night. If you are just in China for 24 hours, you can fill out a temporary transit entry card and it acts as a visa. Then came a 13 hour flight. We both slept a few hours, ate a ton of snack food, and watched at least one movie. As soon as the plane landed in China we had someone from our airline help us through immigration. Jon and I were so glad for that, because neither of us had the brain capacity at that point to do any of those steps alone.

After we got through customs, immigration, and another round of security, we boarded a plane to Xiamen. We had a 12 hour layover there, so after asking lots of questions, we ended up in line for hotel accommodations . The airlines we were flying ended up comping our entire hotel fare, which was nice, but we had to get a taxi cab from the airport to the hotel. That was a little stressful, as we had not taken out any cash and we were not able to connect to WiFi. We ended up figuring it out and made it to the hotel in one piece.

We woke up the next morning, took a taxi back to the airport, wandered our way to the gate, and took a flight over to Bangkok. Our Airbnb host had transportation to the spot we were staying all lined up, so we jumped into a car and made it there without any problem. Then we tried really hard to stay awake as to not make matters worse with our sleep schedule. We got to Bangkok at about noon their time.

The hardest part about travelling is for sure that first meal you have to venture out and find. You are tired, hungry, unfamiliar with the area, and honestly not super motivated. Luckily for us, our family friend Jonathan just moved over here to Bangkok and was familiar enough to help us find dinner. He took the train down from where he lived and met us at our airbnb and helped us find something to eat. Such an amazing blessing!

Today our only plan is to go get a massage somewhere!
