If you are going to drive past through Tacoma traffic, you might as well make a day out of it.

Jon's aunt and uncle live on the other side of the Sound from Seattle, which means that for us to visit them, we have to drive through Tacoma traffic. We knew we wanted to spend the night out there before we went overseas, so we took off around noon and headed over there. It was just a quick trip and we just went over for dinner and to visit with a few of his family members. However, we did go over a little early to explore Silverdale and Poulsbo.
We wandered around the water front park and just enjoyed the beautiful day. Jon had never spent too much time on the Sound, so he was so intrigued by the crabs you can find under every rock. We spent quite a bit of time looking at the little fish on the surface of the water as well!
After Silverdale, we drove on to see Poulsbo. There is a cute diner there that we sat down and had a snack at, after we searched through all of the little stores (and didn't buy anything even though I REALLY wanted to). The cafe we sat at had a deck of cards at our table, so along with eating garlic fries, we got to play a round of cards.
Jon had a lot of fun exploring that part of Washington and I had a lot of fun watching Jon's face light up every time he saw something new and exciting.
We will be spending more time up there in a month or so, but this made for a nice, quick trip!
